Rise United States

Our innovative programming in the US breaks down stigma and builds critical life skills for marginalized children to thrive.

Rise in the United States

Working in partnership with public schools in New York City through the Montefiore School Health Programs, Rise is increasing the capacity of their preschool teachers and professionals by training them in the Rise’s play-based methodology, demonstrating the lessons, and evaluating and monitoring the impact of the program within each of the classrooms.

In both Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Rise is bringing our trauma-informed, play-based learning methodologies and best practices to educators who are on the frontlines with children and families navigating difficult circumstances. Partnering with the Catholic Charities Head Start, the Y in Central Maryland, Eastern Family Resource Center in Baltimore County, and the Judy Center at Lakeland Elementary Middle School, we’ve trained nearly 100 educators (and counting!) to employ our impactful interventions in their classrooms.

Given the delicate situation that our students, caregivers, and families find themselves in after Covid. Rises’s high-impact training method that focuses on trauma-informed, learning through play, has measurably improved the skills and, most importantly, the outlook of our wonderful teachers. We are proud that we have been able to provide this professional development opportunity to our community where so many have felt the disruption in their children’s education, and wellness.”

—Dr. Rosy Chhabra, Director, Montefiore School Health Program.

Element of Play in the US

Element of Play is Rise’s custom program developed to support early childhood development, bring about psychosocial change and rehabilitate communities in areas of extreme poverty and disaster. Adverse childhood experiences cause trauma in children which often causes them to miss critical developmental milestones and creates lasting negative consequences in their lives. These developmental delays produce a cumulative effect on their communities.

“Rise is a rare gem. It is an organization that is humble.

Rise is surrounded by people who believe that all children, regardless of the most difficult situations, deserve to ‘learn and thrive.’

My school community and I are honored that we are now a part of the Rise community—committed to raising our students together for the future that is waiting for them to lead.

Thank you for doing this hard work with your hearts and helping me to remind our children that they are immensely LOVED at PS51.”

—Dr. Min Hong, Principal, PS51 Bronx STEM & Arts Academy

New York City Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence

The Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) develops policies and programs, provides training and prevention education, conducts research and evaluations, performs community outreach, and operates the New York City Family Justice Centers. They collaborate with City agencies and community stakeholders to ensure access to inclusive services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). GBV can include intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.

In early 2022, Rise conducted a needs assessment to evaluate the space needed to provide families with an optimum space to provide child care during their meetings with counselors, lawyers, psychologists etc. WWO then designed curriculum and lesson plans for Element of Play Birth to Three Program and trained 35 ENDGBV staff and partners who will be engaging with the children so the parents can focus on the services provided by the ENDGBV.
